Sunday School Teachers Needed!

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED FOR 2009-2010

Please be in prayerful consideration of our need for Sunday School teachers this fall. It will be starting in September and go through May. We still have openings that need to be filled. These include:

Two preschool teachers
One kindergarten teacher
One first grade teacher
One 7th grade teacher
One female for senior high

Teaching Sunday at NHUMC is co-teaching; that is to say, two adults in each classroom working with the children. Sunday School happens Sundays from 9:45-10:45. All of every age and gender are welcome. If you are interested, visit with Tracy Dungan, Rachael Weller, or Pastor Don. Our children count on the Church to learn and celebrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Please consider answering God’s call in your life. Celebrate your faith in Christ and help our young people to do the same.

VBS Missions is BACK!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MISSIONS:

Back by popular demand at VBS will be an opportunity for the kids in attendance to participate in missions projects. We need your help with donations for the following projects:

Sandwiches: Our goal is to supply 800 sandwiches to 2 separate shelters: Simpson and Our Savior. Currently, they have no supply of sandwiches and this ministry comes at a critical time. Help us make this a goal a reality! We need donations of: meat, cheese and bread - see the poster in Fellowship Hall for more details. VEAP Birthday Bags: Our local VEAP agency provides a birthday cake, frosting and candles to those area children who may otherwise go without on their birthday. We need donations of: cake mixes, frosting tubs and candles - see the poster in Fellowship Hall for more details.

Sierra Leone fleece blankets: Each blanket requires 2 yards of fleece - 1 yard of a solid color, the 2nd yard a patterned fleece. If anyone is interested in shopping for patterned fleece, I have 4 x 1 yard pieces of solid colors that need a match. Also feel free to shop for fleece to make a complete blanket. All donations may be left in the VBS area in Fellowship Hall.

Thank you for your continued support of missions and the youth ministries at our church. Please have donations dropped off by Sunday, August 2nd. Meat and cheese donations may be marked "VBS" and left in the church's kitchen refrigerator. NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DONATIONS CAN BE DROPPED OFF ANYTIME BEFORE AUGUST 3RD IN THE BOXES IN Fellowship Hall.

No time to shop? No problem. Cash donations can be used to fill out areas where we run short. Just mark “VBS Missions” on your check, to make sure it gets to the right place.

Make sure to get your registration in today!

Have you invited a friend or neighbor to come to VBS with you? Vacation Bible School provides a great opportunity for outreach! This year, VBS is free, so the price is right – ask some friends to join you!

Volunteer Spotlight of the Week:
Camp Counselors! We need youth and adults to sign up as camp counselors. You can choose an age group, or let us assign you where needed. Camp counselors stay with their counselor group, and travel from learning center to learning center. Your preparation is minimal – your enthusiasm is key! Join in at each center and help your group participate. Sign up today in Fellowship Hall.

VBS VOLUNTEER MEETING
Sunday, July 26th, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at NHUMC
Meet in Fellowship Hall
If you are volunteering during the week of VBS and are unable to attend the meeting, please contact Tracy Dungan in advance to arrange receiving the information.

TIME TO DECORATE FOR VBS!
VBS needs your help. The last week of July, we will transform NHUMC into a Northwoods camp, and we need decorative props from our church families to make that happen. What type of things are we looking for? Christmas trees! All sizes, lit or unlit, not flocked. Woods-y stuffed animals (moose, deer, squirrels, raccoons, birds, etc.). Sleeping bags (the older the better), picnic tables and benches, park benches, etc.

All prop loans should be brought in to church beginning July 26th after church, continuing throughout the week. Make sure that you mark your items clearly, and/or make sure the person retrieving your items knows exactly which ones are yours.

We can use your help setting up and taking down your trees. Please use the form below for all tree loans. Turn it in to the box by the VBS volunteer board in Fellowship Hall. This form will allow us to plan where to set up all the trees!

Also, we will need lots of help decorating the church. For those of you who are good at visualizing and creating, we hope you will donate your time and talent that week before VBS. For those of you who aren’t creative, but are willing to follow directions, WE CAN USE YOU, TOO. We will have easy to follow instructions for projects that we need completed.

We have tentatively set the following schedule for set-up.
Please come join in when you are able:
Monday, July 27, 9:30-11:30 am
Tuesday, July 28, 1-4; 7-9 pm
Wednesday, July 29, 9-10:30 am;
2-4 pm
Thursday, July 30, 1-4; 7-9 pm
Friday, July 31, 2-4 pm
Sunday, August 2, noon-3 pm; 3-5 pm; 7-9 pm

Any questions, please contact Tracy Dungan.
